Nikon D850 Kit AF-S 24-120mm f/4G ED VR adalah DSLR multimedia yang menyatukan kemampuan foto yang tangguh bersama dengan perekaman film dan time-lapse yang tepat. Sensor CMOS BSI 45.7 MP yang baru dirancang dan prosesor gambar EXPEED 5 yang terbukti, D850 jelas dibedakan dengan resolusi tingginya untuk merekam citra mendetail. Desain sensor yang diterangi kembali mampu memperoleh detail dan kejernihan yang lebih besar saat bekerja dalam kondisi cahaya rendah, sensor juga menggunakan filter low-pass optik untuk meningkatkan ketajaman.

Prosesor gambar EXPEED 5, yang secara bersama-sama menghasilkan continuous shooting sebesar 7 fps hingga 51 frame berturut-turut, rentang sensitivitas yang dapat diperluas dari ISO 32 hingga 102400, dan perekaman video 4K UHD baik menggunakan DX crop atau seluruh area sensor full-frame. Mode perekaman time lapse 8K juga tersedia, serta mode perekaman khusus tambahan untuk mendigitalkan negatif film dan untuk aplikasi focus stacking.
